Here, the four heads symbolize the independent “four judicatures,” while the band in the head originally represented a regal crown adorned with stones, lost in subsequent depictions.<\/p>\n
The most widely embraced version of the flag’s genesis unfolds in the year 1096 during the Battle of Alcoraz. Here, a knight in white armor, bearing a red cross on his chest, emerged as a pivotal force in King Peter I of Aragon’s victory over the Saracens.
