What you need to know about San Teodoro
San Teodoro is an energetic and beautiful little town just about a half hour South of Olbia and North of the Gulf of Orosei.
Its name comes from the Church of Saint Theodore. The major attraction of this town is its amazing coast: beautiful long white thin sanded beaches alternated by high rocky granite cliffs.
Let’s say it, San Teodoro is no place for old men: it’s full of youngsters, pack of friends, couples that are sure to find lots of entertainment. The nightlife is assured by a number of discos, pubs, concerts, and beach events specifically designed for that target. The night is very animated by the “movida” at its best, especially in August. This area is known to have some of the highest quality culinary entertainment such as restaurants, sushi bars, wineries, etc.
San Teodoro activities
This doesn’t mean that if you have a family and 3 kids, you will have to avoid it, there are plenty of other daytime activities there for you. San Teodoro is recommended for youngsters and for those who want to party all day, but that’s not all there is. You can find many secluded places, for example in a short drive you can reach the beautiful “Capo Coda Cavallo” beach, and the other close by beaches are “Puntaldìa”, “Lu Impostu”, “Le Farfalle”, “Cala Girgolu”, and “Cala Brandinchi”. Here you’ll find sailing schools, canoes, paddle boats, and zodiac rentals. The area around San Teodoro also offers a lot of excursions such as trekking, quad or bicycle.
The closest and most famous beach is La Cinta, just in front of the town, you can walk there from your apartment. It’s a very popular beach so it’s not that easy to find space in such a jungle of umbrellas and beach chairs. Fortunately, you have the option of renting beach beds for the day from the many resorts available.
Water sports are also very popular in San Teodoro. Thanks to its location it’s particularly favorable for wind activities such as windsurf and kitesurf. The wind is always present, especially the Mistral, which blows from West to East, keeping the water flat and the Scirocco which direction comes from South-East and forms almost 2-meter waves!
San Teodoro is a place you would want to check out and spend a few days. It’s in a great position that enables you to reach other interesting places located in the inland.
